Its only me from over the sea 2012 Painted in oil on a gessoed panel this head was based on a rathered battered mask I photographed at the Horniman Museum. As my version emerged I remembered the recording from Uncle Macs Childrens Favourites " Barnacle Bill the sailor. I added the shells and the mustache began to look like a twist of rope.See page one. |
