Ganesha and Parvati
2015

The source for this drawing is a marvellous large 19th Century bronze in the British Museum. Ganesha is powerful and mother-goddess Parvati rests on his ample lap. I chose to explore the powerful sculptural bronze through line rather than form, to make the image my own and to use the gesso ground and watercolour to develop and refine the linear quality ...(Which is how I begin my paintings.) The eyes are borrowed from Rita Ora
Drawing, Charcoal/graphite on a gesso ground and watercolour.
