L'OISEAU DE PAIX 1979-80 This large pink work expands the toy aesthetic with the inclusion of first 'injection moulded' action man. He became usable when his head came off removing his "humanity." L'Oiseaux de Paix (its title on the box) transforms from real to comic and we also have action man in both styles. The sausage and mash landscape is about to be obliterated by an atomic chutney cloud and that reference, from a relish advert, was the starting point of the painting. |
