SANTA MARIA NUOVA, CORTONA 1990 I started carrying an easel on summer trips and spending several days working on site, completing paintings back in my studio. I take a number of photographs during the day but they are no substitute for working as the subject is revealed by the changing light, the test of measured drawing and the intuitive decision making as the work slowly emerges. |
